libspatialindex-dev software package provides General framework for developing spatial indices - development files, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libspatialindex-dev
libspatialindex-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libspatialindex-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libspatialindex-dev *
You will get with libspatialindex-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
